Right about now most of us are returning to a "human" state again as we ended the school year, said our happy and painful good-byes, and the most dreadful packing up the classroom! I feel my shoulders dropping from around my ears, the dark circles under my eyes are beginning to fade, my hands are marker free, the voices have stopped (teacher... maestra.... mom....Ms.... can you help plan the retirement party, what is the aims web password.... did you do your cum folders...) and my muscles are not sore from carrying all of my work home! Yep, feeling more like a human already.
32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny has rejuvenated me with lots of laughs and some tears -sniff, sniff- but best of all the book shares the life lessons and thoughts of a teacher. Sometimes, you just need to know there are more of us out there that feel the same thing. With that being said, get the book, laugh, cry, and return to your human state!
I honestly laughed out loud when I read the part about not having markers on my hands at the end of the day. It is the story of my life during the school year. There are days I am sure I have NOT touched a single marker, yet my hands are still blue, green, purple….
ReplyDeleteI have been out of school for over three weeks now and I have just started to get around to reading for pleasure. I just can’t seem to read during the school year, but that’s a different story. Anyway, I have read a few of the chapters from 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny. The one that really stuck me was the one where he keeps sending home books for the student to read and is getting frustrated that the reading isn’t being done. He comes to find out that the parent is the one who can’t read, but is now inspired to try to learn again.
Oh, and I loved the little owl picture. It's great.
I'm glad it made you laugh! I love quotes and pictures that apply to teachers. Sometimes I feel that we are the only ones that get it!
DeleteI really enjoyed your post! Meghan laughed out load about the markers, I laughed out load about the aims password - I don't know why my staff think I always know this, even when the district office changes it.
ReplyDeleteI've read parts of this book in a book store a couple of years ago. I should have bought it, but I remember being a broke college student. I definitely need to pick it up again.
The passwords and log ins are enough to drive someone crazy!!!! They are good tools, but I don't know how I am the keeper of the passwords each year!?! Ha!
DeleteYes! I love this book, especially when he gets his tie stuck in the laminator!! And when the police dog pulls down his pants! Sometimes I wish these things would happen to me because it would just be so hilarious to pass down these kinds of stories!
ReplyDeleteThe laminator is classic! I wish there was a sequel!
